Pack Pros: A.J. Cole III sets new NFL single-game punt record

It was another full weekend of NFL football, which means NC State’s Pack pros were all in action for their respective teams, which included former punter A.J. Cole III’s record-setting performance. 

Here’s a look at how the Pack Pros did in their games this weekend.

Center Garrett Bradbury (played at NC State from 2015-18), Minnesota Vikings: Bradbury played all 75 offensive snaps, and helped the Vikings to a 31-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons with new quarterback Josh Dobbs under center. 

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett (2014-15), Washington Commanders: Brissett did not appear in the Commanders’ 20-17 win over the New England Patriots. He served as the team’s primary backup quarterback. 

Outside linebacker Bradley Chubb (2014-17), Miami Dolphins: Chubb logged three tackles in the Dolphins’ 21-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Germany. All three of his stops were solo, and he recorded a tackle for a loss as well.

Punter A.J. Cole III (2015-18), Las Vegas Raiders: Cole recorded five punts for 318 yards in the Raiders’ 30-6 win over the New York Giants. He set an NFL single-game record for longest average punt distance with 63.6 yards per attempt in the win. He had a long of 69 yards and pinned one punt inside the 20-yard line.

Offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu (2019-21), Carolina Panthers: Ekwonu played 71 offensive snaps in the Panthers’ 27-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He posted the Panthers’ second-highest offensive PFF score, 73.6, in the loss. He was without fellow Pack Pro Chandler Zavala in the contest on the offensive line.

Punter Trenton Gill (2018-21), Chicago Bears: Gill logged two punts for 95 yards in the Bears’ 24-17 loss to the New Orleans Saints. He averaged 47.5 yards per attempt in the defeat. 

Defensive lineman B.J. Hill Jr. (2014-17), Cincinnati Bengals: Hill recorded two tackles, including a sack, and two quarterback hits in the Bengals’ 24-18 win over the Buffalo Bills. 

RB Nyheim Hines (2015-17), Buffalo Bills: Hines is out for the season with an injury suffered over the offseason. 

Safety Tanner Ingle, Los Angeles Rams (2018-22): Ingle is on the Rams’ practice squad.

Defensive tackle Justin Jones (2014-17), Chicago Bears: Jones recorded two tackles and a quarterback hit in the Bears’ 24-17 loss to the New Orleans Saints. 

Linebacker Vi Jones (2019-21), Seattle Seahawks: Jones was waived off of injured reserve by the Seahawks following an injury settlement.

Running back Zonovan Knight (2019-21), Detroit Lions: Knight is out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. He had one catch for eight yards, and three carries for 13 yards in his two appearances with the Lions this season. 

Cornerback Nick McCloud (2016-19, finished at Notre Dame), New York Giants: McCloud logged one tackle, a solo stop, in the Giants’ 30-6 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. 

Defensive tackle T.Y. McGill Jr. (2011-14), San Francisco 49ers: The 49ers were on bye this week. 

Defensive tackle Alim McNeill (2018-20), Detroit Lions: The Lions were on bye this week. 

Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (2016-18), Las Vegas Raiders: Meyers recorded two catches for 38 yards in the Raiders’ 30-6 win over the New York Giants. He had a long of 24 yards on three targets. Meyers also logged one carry for 17 yards and a touchdown in the Raiders’ victory.

Defensive tackle Larrell Murchison (2018-19), Los Angeles Rams: Murchison logged three tackles, including one solo, in the Rams’ 20-3 loss to the Green Bay Packers. 

Cornerback Derrek Pitts Jr. (2021-22), Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Pitts did not play in the Buccaneers’ 39-37 loss to the Houston Texans.

Linebacker Germaine Pratt (2014-18), Cincinnati Bengals: Pratt paced the Bengals with 11 total tackles, including six solo stops, in the team’s 24-18 win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football. 

Defensive end James Smith-Williams (2016-19), Washington Commanders: Smith-Williams recorded two tackles, including one solo, and a quarterback hit in the Commanders’ 20-17 win over the New England Patriots. 

Defensive lineman Kentavius Street (2014-17), Atlanta Falcons: Street logged five tackles, including two solo, with a fumble recovery in his Falcons debut, a 31-28 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The Pack Pro was recently traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Falcons.

Linebacker Drake Thomas (2019-22), Seattle Seahawks: Thomas made two tackles, including one solo, in the Seahawks’ 37-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. 

Wide receiver Thayer Thomas (2017-22), Minnesota Vikings: Thomas is on the Vikings’ practice squad.

Offensive guard Joe Thuney (2012-15), Kansas City Chiefs: Thuney played all 60 offensive snaps in the Chiefs’ 21-14 win over the Miami Dolphins in Germany. He posted an offensive PFF score of 69.4. 

Wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (2013-14, Finished at USF), Kansas City Chiefs: Valdes-Scantling logged two catches for 22 yards in the Chiefs’ 21-14 win over the Miami Dolphins in Germany. He was targeted three times and had a long of 21 yards. 

Quarterback Russell Wilson (2007-09/Finished at Wisconsin), Denver Broncos: The Broncos were on bye this week. 

Offensive guard Chandler Zavala (2021-22), Carolina Panthers: Zavala did not appear in the Panthers’ 27-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
