The Husker women’s basketball team announced its 2022-2023 Big Ten opponents with home matches against the league’s top four teams last season (Iowa, Maryland, Michigan and Ohio State) headlining the schedule.

Husker Head Coach Amy Williams completed the 2021-2022 season with a 24-9 record by losing to Gonzaga in the first round of the NCAA. Nebraska advanced to the semifinals of the 2021 Big Ten Tournament, knocking off No. 10 Michigan 76-73. However, they fell short of the Big Ten Championship to Iowa.

Nebraska is coming off its best season since the 2013-2014 season when Connie Yori led the Huskers to a 26-7 finish and to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

NU returns all five of its 2021-2022 starters: All-Big Ten guards Sam Haiby, Jaz Shelley, forward Isabelle Bourne, Big Ten Freshman of the Year Alexis Markowski and starting guard Allison Weidner. The No. 22 preseason team by ESPN added sophomore guard Maddie Krull (Millard South) who helped South Dakota advance to the 2022 NCAA Sweet Sixteen.

Nebraska’s home schedule is challenging as it features ESPN preseason No. 6 Iowa, No. 15 Ohio State, No. 18 Maryland, and Michigan, which made the 2022 Elite Eight. Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State, Wisconsin and Illinois will also travel to Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Huskers’ road matchups aren’t any easier as they travel to Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Northwestern and Illinois. They have four road-only games highlighting No. 12 Indiana, which has reached back-to-back Sweet Sixteens in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.
