The Nebraska basketball team opened up the first 30 minutes of its practice to local media on Thursday morning.

Here are a few sights and sounds from what we saw…

Entering their fourth season under head coach Fred Hoiberg, the Huskers return two of their top four scorers from last season in senior forward Derrick Walker (9.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg) and sophomore guard C.J. Wilcher (8.1 ppg, 2.3 rpg).

Nebraska basketball also added key D1 transfers in guards Sam Griesel (North Dakota State), Emmanuel Bandoumel (SMU), and Juwan Gary (Alabama), as well as coveted junior college transfer Blaise Keita (Coffeyville C.C.)

NU also brought in two nationally-ranked freshmen in Ramel Lloyd Jr. and Jamarques Lawrence.

The Huskers will face high-major opponents in 26 or 27 of their 31 regular-season games this season, depending on their draws at the ESPN Events Invitational in Orlando. That includes a Big Ten Conference slate that opens with seven of the first eight games against NCAA Tournament teams from last year.

They will play two exhibitions before the opener at home against Maine on November 7. The first will be against Chadron (Nebraska) State at Pinnacle Bank Arena on October 23, and the second will be a charity game against Colorado in Boulder on October 30.

In all, 27 of the Huskers’ 31 regular-season games will air on national television. The other four contests will be streamed online, including three on BTN+.
