ESPN's College GameDay to be on site in Pittsburgh for Notre Dame at Pitt

Notre Dame hasn’t received the College GameDay treatment yet this season … until now. ESPN’s flagship pregame show announced Sunday afternoon it is headed to The Steel City for the No. 9 Fighting Irish’s showdown with the No. 23 Pitt Panthers.
There Irish have had a few games that would have been worthy of GameDay’s presence, from opening the season at Miami to playing Texas A&M in Week 3. The Miami game was on Sunday of Labor Day weekend, though, and the show went to Knoxville, Tenn., for Georgia at Tennessee when the Irish were up against the Aggies.
Notre Dame hosting USC late last month was a marquee matchup as well, but ESPN took its team to Athens, Ga., for Ole Miss at Georgia.
Notre Dame was no stranger to the show during the 2024 season. The crew was in College Station, Texas, for the season opener between the Irish and Aggies. South Bend was a GameDay stop for the first round of College Football Playoff when Notre Dame hosted Indiana.
GameDay has been at a Notre Dame game 40 times. The Irish have a record of 19-21 in those games.
Notre Dame has won seven games in a row since losing to Miami and Texas A&M to open the season. The Irish are coming off an impressive 49-10 drilling of Navy in South Bend on Saturday night. It was a return to good form following an off day in Chestnut Hill, Mass., when the Irish only beat one-win Boston College, 25-10.

Pitt, meanwhile, had a strategically placed bye week before welcoming Notre Dame to town. The Panthers lost back to back games to West Virginia and Louisville in September but have rattled off five consecutive victories of their own after turning to freshman quarterback Mason Heintschel. He’s completing 64.1 percent of his passes for 302.2 yards per game with 12 touchdowns and 5 interceptions during the winning streak.
Notre Dame redshirt freshman quarterback CJ Carr has been instrumental in the Irish’s success, too. His statistics in nine stats are incredible across the board, from holding the nation’s leading yards per attempt figure of 10.3 to the third-best pass efficiency rating in the country of 176.8. Carr is passing for 252.8 yards per game with 19 passing touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
This is also an opportunity for Heisman Trophy candidate Jeremiyah Love to showcase himself to the country. The junior Notre Dame tailback is tied for first in the nation with 16 total touchdowns, and he ranks third nationally in yards from scrimmage per game with 138.0.
Notre Dame and Pitt tip off from Acrisure Stadium at noon ET (ABC) on Saturday.
