Former Notre Dame football quarterback and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees has emerged as a candidate for the most recent Power Four opening.

According to Mary Kay Cabot from cleveland.com, Michigan is interested in Rees, the current Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator, for its head coaching vacancy. On3’s Pete Nakos also named Rees a possible option to replace recently fired coach Sherrone MooreESPN linked Rees to the Wolverines in its reporting, too.

This is not the first head coaching vacancy Rees has been linked to this cycle. According to NFL insiders Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport, Rees interviewed for Penn State’s position. The Nittany Lions ended up going with Iowa State coach Matt Campbell. Also, before UCLA hired Bob Chesney, Rees was one of the betting favorites for the Bruins’ job.

Rees, 33, is in his first season as the Browns’ offensive coordinator. It has been a challenging season for Cleveland. The Browns are third-to-last in total offense and fourth-to-last in points per game. Rees took over playcalling duties in Week 10.
