With the help of former Notre Dame football starting offensive lineman Pat Coogan, Indiana is on a roll.

The Hoosiers have won their first five games of the 2025 season, climbing to No. 8 in the latest AP Poll. In last Saturday’s win against Iowa, Indiana did so on the heels of an outstanding performance from Coogan. According to Pro Football Focus, Coogan had an 83.6 pass-blocking grade, which was the best grade among Power Four centers.

Here are more details on Coogan’s performance last week and nine other Notre Dame players who entered the transfer portal within the last year.

QB Steve Angeli (Syracuse … 3-2): Before he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury Sept. 20 vs. Clemson, Angeli threw for 1,317 yards and 10 touchdowns while completing 98-256 passes with only 2 interceptions in four games.

OL Ty Chan (Connecticut … 3-2): Started at right guard for the third time in five weeks, playing 37 of 64 offensive snaps. According to Pro Football Focus, Chan was Connecticut’s second-highest graded offensive player in a 20-17 win over Buffalo (2-3). He did not give up any pressure.

WR Deion Colzie (Miami Ohio … 1-3): Started and played 41 of 72 offensive snaps, dropping 1 of his 2 targets in a 38-0 victory against FCS school Lindenwood (2-3).

OL Pat Coogan (No. 8 Indiana … 5-0): Started at center and played all 64 offensive snaps in a 20-15 victory over Iowa (3-2). Coogan did not allow any pressure in 32 pass blocking snaps. Also, the Hoosiers’ rushers registered 12 carries and 48 yards (4 yards per carry) when running middle left or right, which Coogan was primarily responsible for.

DL Tyson Ford (California … 4-1): Has yet to appear in a game this season. Ford has been spotted in a boot on the sideline this season. … The Golden Bears beat Boston College (1-3) 28-24 on the road.

EDGE Aiden Gobaira (James Madison … 3-1): Played 27 defensive snaps, recording 2 tackles, including an assisted tackle for loss, in a 35-10 win over Georgia Southern (2-3). PFF also awarded him with 2 QB hurries and a run stop. Gobaira is also a special teams ace, assisting on the kick return, punt coverage, punt return, and field goal kick and field goal block teams.

CB Jaden Mickey (Boise State … 3-1): Started and played 46 of 59 snaps in a 47-14 victory against Appalachian State (2-2). In the third quarter, Mickey was knocked unconscious while making a tackle on a kickoff return and carted off the field, leaving his playing status against Notre Dame on Saturday in question.

Before the injury, Mickey had 2 tackles and a pass breakup. PFF also credited him with a run stop and a missed tackle. He contributed to the kick and punt coverage teams, as well as field goal block.

OL Sam Pendleton (No. 15 Tennessee … 4-1): Started at center and was involved with all 74 offensive snaps, allowing a quarterback hit and a hurry in his 48 pass blocking reps in a 41-34 win at Mississippi State. The Volunteers only ran four times up the middle left or middle right, recording 13 yards.

OL Rocco Spindler (Nebraska … 3-1): The Cornuskers had a bye week.

WR Jayden Thomas (No. 24 Virginia … 4-1): Played 11 offensive snaps in the Cavaliers’ 46-38 double-overtime upset victory over No. 8 Florida State (3-1). Virginia quarterback Chandler Morris only targeted him once. Thomas also helps on the kick coverage, kick return, punt coverage and punt return teams.

LB Kennedy Urlacher (USC … 4-1): Appeared on 13 defensive plays in a 34-32 loss to Illinois, posting 2 solo tackles. Urlacher also plays on kick coverage, kick return, punt coverage, punt return and field goal block.

DE Andrew Yanoshak (Dayton … 3-1): Logged 27 snaps and collected 3 tackles in a 48-14 win against Stetson (1-4).

K Zac Yoakam (Houston … 4-0): Had 5 kickoffs for 309 yards and 1 touchback in a 27-24 loss to Oregon State (0-5).
