How to watch Notre Dame football commits during Week 1 of high school season

In 10 days, the Notre Dame football program will open its 2025 season in a top-10 matchup against Miami. But before then, 15 future Fighting Irish players will begin their high school seasons this week, while three others in Georgia have already kicked off their 2025 campaigns.
Blue & Gold previews each game and provides details on how to watch. All games are Friday unless otherwise noted.
Cincinnati St. Xavier three-star LB Kobe Clapper
Clapper and the Bombers kick off the 2025 season at home with a top-10 matchup against the Lakota West Firebirds. Last season, the two teams squared off twice and split, with St. Xavier claiming a playoff win Nov. 15. Clapper will be tasked with tracking down two of the state’s top running backs, 2026 recruit Braydon Johnson and 2027 prospect Kenyon Norman. He’ll also see a strong test against 2027 tight end Xavier Ratica.
Matthews (N.C.) Weddington four-star LB Thomas Davis Jr.
Notre Dame’s other linebacker commit, Davis, will also take part in a top-10 matchup. Davis and the Weddington Warriors face the Mooresville Blue Devils, who feature Temple QB commit Brody Norman and Appalachian State TE pledge Gavin Barber. Mooresville reached the second round of the playoffs last season.
Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park five-star EDGE Rodney Dunham Jr.
Myers Park begins the 2025 campaign on the road against the Jay M. Robinson Bulldogs, who advanced to the third round of the playoffs last season. Their top recruit is offensive tackle Elijah Shoe, who holds offers from Charlotte and East Carolina.
South Garner (N.C.) High four-star EDGE Ebenzer Ewetade
Ewetade and the South Garner Titans will look to put a 1-8 2024 campaign behind them by opening the 2025 season with a road win against the West Johnston Wildcats. South Garner’s opponent has no recruits of note.

Boca Raton (Fla.) Saint Andrew’s School three-star WR Dylan Faison
After a strong preseason, Faison and the Saint Andrew’s Scots open against The King’s Academy Lions. Expect Faison to be featured in the passing game and on special teams. He may be the most underrated recruit in Notre Dame’s class, and Friday night’s debut could prove it.
Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School four-star WR Bubba Frazier
Frazier and Benedictine will try to avoid an 0-2 start against a loaded Buford team that ranks No. 1 in Georgia. To pull off the upset, Frazier will likely need to top last week’s 3 catches for 43 yards and 1 touchdown. He’ll face a secondary with Georgia commit Tyriq Green, Ole Miss pledge Nascar McCoy and Mississippi State-bound Jax Pope.
Toledo (Ohio) Central Catholic three-star TE Preston Fryzel
Central Catholic has established itself as one of the top programs in Ohio. Fryzel and the Fighting Irish open against Walsh Jesuit, last year’s state runner-up. The Warriors feature MAC-bound safeties Grant Blascak (Toledo) and James Brewer (Ohio).
Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney four-star DL Elijah Golden
After an impressive showing against powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas in an exhibition last week, Golden and the Cardinal Mooney Cougars face True North Classical Academy. The Titans have skill-position talent but lack offensive linemen likely to challenge Golden.
Lake Mary (Fla.) High four-star QB Noah Grubbs
Grubbs showed massive improvement in last week’s exhibition game, which recruiting insider Mike Singer covered in a story earlier this week. He completed 23-36 passes for 345 yards, 1 touchdown and no interceptions. He’ll look to follow that up with a strong Week 1 showing against a formidable Miami Norland team.

Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb four-star QB Teddy Jarrard (2027)
Jarrard completed 15 of 22 passes for 155 yards last week in a season-opening win over Archer. The North Cobb Warriors aim for 2-0 against McEachern, which is ranked just one spot lower. McEachern’s defense features elite 2028 safety Casey Barner and Tennessee DL commit Darryl Rivers.
Wyndmoor (Pa.) La Salle College four-star OT Grayson McKeogh and four-star S Joey O’Brien
Pennsylvania’s top two players face Pittsburgh Central Catholic, a program that produced Notre Dame DLs Kurt and Donovan Hinish. Central Catholic features North Carolina EDGE commit Ashton Blatt, Duke LB commit Colsen Gatten and Western Michigan DL pledge Angelo Pugliano. Talented 2027 CB Zachary Gleason will also try to slow down O’Brien when he lines up at WR.
Mechanicsburg (Pa.) Cumberland Valley four-star OL Tyler Merrill
Merrill and the Eagles open against Manheim Township, a top-25 program in Pennsylvania. Cumberland Valley looks to improve on last year’s 6-6 mark by running behind Merrill, one of the nation’s top OLs.
Winter Park (Fla.) High four-star S Ayden Pouncey
Pouncey’s Winter Park Wildcats face the Jones Tigers, the No. 14 team in Florida. Jones features Miami QB commit Dereon Coleman and Nebraska WR pledge Larry Miles, plus 2027 EDGE Frederick Ards, who holds a Notre Dame offer. Don’t be surprised if Pouncey plays some offense, too.

Charlotte (N.C.) Independence three-star S Nick Reddish
Reddish will make his healthy return for the Patriots, who are ranked No. 10 in North Carolina. Independence will cross the state line to play at Gaffney (S.C.) High, a team that features Arkansas quarterback commit Jayvon Gilmore. Gaffney, ranked No. 6 in South Carolina, lost just one game at home last season.
Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic four-star CB Chaston Smith
Smith and the Fighting Irish face a tough Week 1 test against Riverdale, Tennessee’s No. 11 team. Friday marks Smith’s debut with Knoxville Catholic after transferring from Chattanooga McCallie, the state’s top-ranked program.

Carrollton (Ga.) Central four-star RB Jonaz Walton
In his senior season debut last week against Griffin (Ga.) Spalding, Walton totaled 222 yards from scrimmage, including 99 receiving. This week, the Lions cross state lines to face Oxford (Ala.) High, home to South Carolina LB commit Keenan Britt.
