From Georgia to Cincinnati to Ohio State, we’ve seen a sea of red take over Notre Dame Stadium in recent seasons. Is it possible a sea of maroon is the next invasion on the horizon in South Bend?

Yes, per VividSeats.

The third-party ticket sales company released some information Wednesday, and a part of the package was a projection for how many Aggies fans might make their way into the venue for Saturday night’s primetime tilt in South Bend. VividSeats is forecasting 20 percent of the attendance figure to be made up by Texas A&M supporters.

Notre Dame Stadium holds 77,662 people, so 20 percent of that is roughly 15,532. That’s a lot of people who will be wearing cowboy hats and saying “howdy” in South Bend this weekend.

They’ll obviously be making a long trek to Michiana, which matches up with more of the information put out there by VividSeats. The company says the average distance traveled by fans voyaging to South Bend for the game is 789 miles, farther than folks are having to go to any other game in the Week 3 college football slate.

The Aggies vs. the Irish is also the hottest ticket on the market in Week 3, per VividSeats, with an average price of $530 and a get-in price of $197.

Fighting Irish quote of the day

“As a running back, you can’t let the ball touch the ground. That’s a non-negotiable across all levels of football. Can’t let it touch the ground. And I have to do a better job of that. Shake it off, go on to the next play, go on to the next week. I have a chance to come back and do better things this week.”
