Newsstand: Former Notre Dame forward Monty Williams to be named 2022 NBA Coach of the Year

Former Notre Dame forward and current Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams is the 2022 NBA Coach of the Year, news outlets reported on Monday evening.
Williams played at Notre Dame from 1989-94 (with a two-year break from 1990-92 due to a heart condition) and was the No. 24 overall pick in the 1994 NBA Draft. He averaged 22.4 points and 8.4 rebounds as a senior, earning honorable mention All-America honors. He played for five teams in a 10-year NBA career, averaging 6.3 points per game.
The New York Knicks picked Williams as the No. 24 overall pick in the 1994 NBA Draft and he played in the league for nine years with the Knicks, San Antonio Spurs, Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers.
This season, the Phoenix Suns had the league’s best regular season record of 64-18, earning the top seed in the NBA Western Conference Playoffs.
