Newsstand: Notre Dame hockey wins for first time since October vs. Merrimack
The Notre Dame hockey team is thankful for a break from conference play. The Fighting Irish picked up their first win since Oct. 24 against Merrimack on Wednesday.
Head coach Brock Sheahan‘s team won, 5-4.
The Irish came back from down 3-1 to take a 4-3 lead. Merrimack tied it back up at 4-4, but the Irish nudged ahead once more for good in the third period.
The Irish are now 4-8-1 on the season. They began Sheahan’s first season at the helm with two losses away from home to Arizona State and Quinnipiac. Then came a 3-0-1 stretch in South Bend against St. Lawrence and Robert Morris.
It’s been a rough ride since then.
In the first three weeks of the conference season, Notre Dame was swept by Michigan and Michigan State at home and Minnesota on the road.
