Notre Dame men’s basketball will host DePaul, a former Big East opponent, in an exhibition game Friday, Oct. 24 at Purcell Pavilion. Tip-off time is to be determined.

The Blue Demons will be the second tune-up opponent for third-year Irish head coach Micah Shrewsberry and his team, following a matchup with Butler on Friday, Oct. 14 in Indianapolis.

According to a team-issued press release, the Notre Dame has faced DePaul 106 times in the programs’ history. The Irish lead the all-time series 62-44, and they’ve won 11-straight games against the Blue Demons. That streak began in 2007, with the most recent matchup being a 95-70 Irish victory on Nov. 24, 2018.

The preseason matchup with DePaul will be Notre Dame’s final test before a pivotal regular season for Shrewsberry’s tenure. Year 2 for the former Penn State head coach yielded more questions than answers.

In a year the Irish were expected to take a significant step from their 13-20 (7-13 Atlantic Coast Conference) record in Shrewsberry’s first season, they did not. Instead, they finished 15-18 (8-12 ACC). They suffered slumps such as a five-game losing streak, a four-game losing streak and seven losses in nine games.

The Irish continue to recruit well in the high school ranks under Shrewsberry, though, bringing in a top-10 class for 2025. They landed two four-star commitments earlier this week in point guard Jonathan Sanderson and center Gan-Erdene Solongo.

Quote of the day

“I don’t see an area where we shouldn’t be better. I think we’ve got an opportunity at all positions to play at a higher level than we did, at a more consistent level than we did a year ago. We’ve got talent at every position. We’ve got capable bodies at every position. We’ve got pretty good depth at every position. So it’s an exciting time for us, I think, offensively.”
