Newsstand: Two Notre Dame freshmen make The Athletic's midseason All-Freshman team

Two Notre Dame freshmen landed on The Athletic’s midseason All-Freshman team. Quarterback CJ Carr and safety Tae Johnson, both redshirt freshmen, made the cut.
Carr has been the Irish’s season-long starter for the first time in his career. Through seven games, Carr is completing 65.8 percent of his passes for 251.1 passing yards per game with 14 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He’s also accounted for two rushing scores.
Johnson took over as a starter for the Irish two games into the season and hasn’t looked back. He’s been one of the Irish’s defense’s most productive players with 34 total tackles, which ranks third on the team, to go along with two passes defended and an interception.
