Nick Shrewsberry, 2026 SG and son of Micah Shrewsberry, commits to Notre Dame men's basketball

Nick Shrewsberry, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard in the 2026 class, committed to Notre Dame on Tuesday. He’s the son of Irish head coach Micah Shrewsberry and younger brother of junior guard Braeden Shrewsberry.
Nick Shrewsberry adds to Notre Dame’s 2026 class, which also includes top-100 prospects (per Rivals’ rankings) Jonathan Sanderson and Gan-Erdene Solongo. Shrewsberry is not ranked by any major recruiting service.
“I think playing for my dad will be a really cool experience, being able to look over on the sidelines during a game or at practice and seeing a coach but also seeing a dad will be special,” Shrewsberry told On3’s Joe Tipton. “And with the relationship I already have with him I’ll be a lot more comfortable going into college and it will take some pressure off of me knowing that he’s not just my coach but my father too.”
Playing alongside Chase Konieczny — brother of former Notre Dame guard J.R. Konieczny and currently a freshman at Florida Gulf Coast — Shrewsberry helped lead South Bend Saint Joseph to the Class 3A state championship. He numbers made a significant jump from his sophomore year to his junior year, improving his points per game from 7.2 to 13.9.
“I’m a high IQ player, great shooter with infinite range, good athlete, good cutter,” Shrewsberry said. “I get most of my points off of threes and dunks.”

The younger Shrewsberry will reunite with his brother, Braeden, who averaged 14.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game last season as a sophomore.
“It’s going to be really fun playing with my brother,” Nick Shrewsberry said. “He’s one of my best friends and we’re really close so being on the same team will only bring us closer. Also just being able to compete with and against him every day and seeing how much we both have grown since we last played together will be cool to see.”
Notre Dame’s 2026 recruiting class is ranked 46th in the country, down from 10th in 2025, per the Rivals Industry Ranking. However, the Irish are excited to add Sanderson, a 6-foot-2 point guard, and Solongo, a 7-foot center, to the fold. Both will finish their high school careers at La Porter (Ind.) La Lumiere after Sanderson’s dad and Solongo’s legal guardian, Jon Sanderson, took the head men’s basketball strength coach job at Notre Dame.
Notre Dame begins its 2024-25 season in less than one week, tipping off at 7 p.m. ET on Monday against Long Island at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend.
