Notre Dame football’s 25-10 win over Boston College (1-8) on Saturday might not have been pretty, but it was good enough in the eyes of Associated Press voters to move the Fighting Irish up two spots in the Week 11 AP Top 25 Poll. As of Sunday, Notre Dame (6-2) is the No. 10 team in the country, its highest ranking since Week 2, when it was No. 9.

The Irish also received some help. Three teams that were ranked in front of Notre Dame last week — Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and Miami — all lost Saturday. They all fell behind the Irish in the latest AP Top 25 while Texas Tech moved up four spots after its 43-20 victory against Kansas State (4-5). ND is the highest-ranked two-loss team, one spot ahead of Oklahoma (7-2).

Notre Dame has come a long way since it dropped its first two games of the season and tumbled to No. 24 in the Week 4 AP Poll on Sept. 14. The Irish have won six straight games and have risen 14 total spots over the last seven weeks. Most importantly, they are back in the College Football Playoff conversation ahead of Tuesday’s first official CFP rankings reveal at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Based on the latest AP Top 25, the Irish would travel to Ole Miss (8-1) for a first-round College Football Playoff game. The four highest-ranked teams receive byes in the 12-team playoff format, while teams Nos. 5-8 get home games.

In Blue & Gold senior writer Eric Hansen’s official AP Poll ballot, he ranked Notre Dame as the No. 8 team nationally. Also on Sunday, the Irish claimed the No. 10 spot in the US LBM Coaches Poll. On3 college football reporter Brett McMurphy gave the Irish the same ranking.

Notre Dame will have the chance to strengthen its ranking with Saturday night’s tilt against Navy (7-1). The Midshipmen were undefeated before falling 31-17 to North Texas on Saturday. Besides Texas A&M, Miami and USC, none of Notre Dame’s 2025 opponents slotted in the Week 11 AP Top 25. However, Pittsburgh did receive votes.
