On Sunday, the Associated Press released its updated college football rankings. The Notre Dame football program checked in as the No. 9 team in the Week 13 AP Top 25.

It is the first time in three weeks that the Irish have held steady in the AP Poll. In Week 10, Notre Dame was the No. 12 team the day after its bye week. Sunday is also the first time a two-loss team — Oklahoma — leaped ahead of the Irish all season. On Saturday, the Sooners defeated No. 10 Alabama, 23-21, in Tuscaloosa. The Tide also have two losses.

In Blue & Gold senior writer Eric Hansen’s official AP ballot, he listed the Fighting Irish as the No. 7 team in the country. On3 national college football reporter Brett McMurphy slotted Notre Dame three spots lower at No. 10. Earlier on Sunday, the Irish claimed the No. 9 spot in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

The Irish would hypothetically make the 12-team College Football Playoff in all four rankings. Over the last two weeks, Notre Dame’s CFP ranking mirrored its position in the AP Poll two days prior. The latest CFP rankings will be unveiled on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Three of Notre Dame’s opponents this season ended up in the Week 13 AP top 25. Texas A&M is No. 3, Miami is No. 14 and USC is No. 16. Navy just missed the cut with 61 votes. Despite Pittsburgh losing to the Irish 37-15 on Saturday, the Panthers received 11 votes.

On Saturday, the Irish host Syracuse (3-7) in the home regular season finale. Notre Dame will close out the regular season at Stanford, which is also 3-7, on Nov. 29.
