Where does Notre Dame football rank in the Week 14 AP Poll?

Notre Dame football’s obliteration of Syracuse on Saturday did not change the perspective of most Associated Press Poll voters. On Sunday, the Fighting Irish claimed the No. 9 spot in the Week 14 AP Poll once again. It’s the third straight week they have held that spot in the AP rankings.
The case remained the same in the US LBM Coaches Poll. Notre Dame held steady there, too, checking in as the No. 9 team.
Ironically, two notable ballots had ND ranked differently. In Blue & Gold senior writer Eric Hansen’s official AP Ballot, he tabbed the Irish as the No. 7 team in the country. On3 national college football reporter Brett McMurphy had Notre Dame three spots lower at No. 10 in his official ballot.
Four of Notre Dame’s opponents this season ended up in this week’s AP Top 25. Texas A&M (11-0) is No. 3, Miami (9-2) is No. 13, USC (8-3) is No. 19 and Pittsburgh (8-3) is No. 24. Navy also received 44 votes. Meanwhile, the Irish are the second-highest two-loss team, trailing only Oklahoma, which ranks No. 8.
While the AP rankings do not officially determine whether the Irish will make the College Football Playoffs, they do serve as a key indicator of how the rest of the country views Marcus Freeman’s program. Notre Dame’s ranking in the CFP has replicated its AP ranking for the last three weeks.

If Tuesday’s updated CFP rankings resemble Sunday’s AP Poll, ND would hypothetically face Oklahoma in a first-round CFP matchup. According to BetMGM, the Irish would be a 4.5-point favorite on the road against the Sooners. The CFP will update its rankings Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Before Notre Dame starts looking ahead to the postseason, it first needs to take care of Stanford. BetMGM lists the Irish as a 28.5-point favorite for that game. Kickoff is at 10:30 p.m. ET. ESPN will have broadcast coverage.
