Notre Dame football injury report: Two starters out, two more questionable vs. Pittsburgh

The No. 9 Irish will be without two starters — with two more listed by the Notre Dame football communications team as questionable — on Saturday against No. 23 Pittsburgh.
Left guard Billy Schrauth (left knee) and defensive tackle Gabriel Rubio (left elbow) are both out for the second straight game, including a third for Rubio. Defensive tackle Donovan Hinish (concussion) and wide receiver Jaden Greathouse (right thigh), who have both also started games for the Irish early in the season, are questionable.
In addition to those four players, eight more were mentioned on Monday’s availability report.
Kicker Noah Burnette (right hip), offensive linemen Charles Jagusah (left arm) and Peter Jones (left ankle), and defensive linemen Sean Sevillano Jr. (left ankle) have all been ruled out. Tight end Cooper Flanagan (left Achilles) and wide receiver Micah Giblert (left hand) have a questionable destination.
Notre Dame is expected to get junior cornerback Christian Gray back after he missed the Navy game with a left hip injury. He was not listed on this week’s availability report.
Notre Dame football injury report vs. Pittsburgh (Week 12)
Here is a detailed look at this week’s Notre Dame football injury report vs. Pittsburgh.
— Flanagan, junior, QUESTIONABLE: After missing the first six games of the season, he made his season debut against USC on Oct. 18 and played four offensive snaps. Flanagan suffered his Achilles injury against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2.
— Gilbert, redshirt freshman, QUESTIONABLE: Last played three snaps against NC State on Oct. 11 before leaving the game due to injury.
— Greathouse, junior, QUESTIONABLE: No details have been given on when the injury occurred. However, he missed the USC, NC State and Boise State games after playing 24 snaps against Arkansas on Sept. 27. On Monday, Freeman provided where Greathouse is physically and mentally since the injury occurred.
“JG is putting in so much work on trying to get that hamstring to where it needs to go, where it needs to be,” Freeman said. “Last week, had to extract some blood from his hamstring, just because part of the healing process, some blood buildup, you got to extract it and continue to get that muscle stronger.
“Mentally, he’s been in a good place. He’s as frustrated as anybody; he wants to be out there. And so we got to just keep, hey, keep working, keep working. And then we’ll see what happens here in the next days, weeks, depending on how he heals.”
— Jagusah, redshirt sophomore, OUT: On July 5, Jagusah fractured his left humerus during a UTV accident in Wyoming. On Oct. 13, Freeman said Jagusah had to have a second surgery, and the timeline for his return is uncertain.
— Jones, redshirt freshman, OUT: On Aug. 26, the Notre Dame football communications team announced he had a left ankle injury. He has been out since then.
