Notre Dame football injury report: Three starters ruled out vs. Stanford
According to the Notre Dame football communications team’s Monday availability update, the Fighting Irish did not suffer any additional injuries against Syracuse last Saturday. On Sunday, they announced that linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa (left knee) and cornerback Chance Tucker (left tibia) suffered season-ending injuries.
Beyond Viliamu-Asa and Tucker, seven of the other eight players listed in Monday’s availability update also appeared on it last Monday. The one exception is safety Tae Johnson, who suffered a left-hand injury in practice last week. Johnson is one of three Notre Dame starters listed as out for Saturday’s game against Stanford.
The two other starters that remain sidelined are left guard Billy Schrauth (left knee) and defensive tackle Gabriel Rubio (left elbow). They are both out for the fourth straight game, including a fifth for Rubio.
For the first time since Oct. 6, wide receiver Jaden Greathouse (right thigh) is off the Monday availability update. However, Greathouse is unexpected to play Saturday because the Irish would like to preserve his redshirt.
The Irish have upgraded two players since Monday. Kicker Noah Burnette (right hip) and tight end Cooper Flanagan (left Achilles) are the only two players listed as questionable. Meanwhile, offensive linemen Charles Jagusah (left arm) and Peter Jones (left ankle), defensive linemen Sean Sevillano Jr. (left ankle) remain out.
Notre Dame football injury report vs. Stanford (Week 14)
Here is a detailed look at this week’s Notre Dame football injury report vs. Stanford.
— Burnette, redshirt senior, QUESTIONABLE: The Irish’s placekicker to start the season has only appeared in five games due to his lingering injury. He last kicked four PATs on Oct. 18 vs. USC. On Monday, Freeman said as soon as Burnette gets healthy, they’ll let him kick. And that could be as soon as this week.
“We’ll make a decision by the end of the week on who’s doing what or who’s doing it all on Saturday,” Freeman said in regards to the handling of the team’s placekicking duties. “But Noah’s gotta get healthy first before we can even come to that decision.”
— Flanagan, junior, QUESTIONABLE: After missing the first six games of the season, he made his season debut against USC on Oct. 18 and played four offensive snaps. But that is the only action he’s seen this season. Flanagan suffered his Achilles injury against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2.
— Jagusah, redshirt sophomore, OUT: On July 5, Jagusah fractured his left humerus during a UTV accident in Wyoming. On Oct. 13, Freeman said Jagusah had to have a second surgery, and the timeline for his return is uncertain.
— Johnson, redshirt sophomore, OUT: Last Friday, the Notre Dame football communications team announced Johnson suffered a left hand injury. After the Syracuse game Saturday, Freeman said he thought Johnson’s injury would keep him out “two games at max, one game at minimum.”
— Jones, redshirt freshman, OUT: On Aug. 26, the Notre Dame football communications team announced he had a left ankle injury. He has been out since then.
— Rubio, redshirt senior, OUT: On Oct. 16, Notre Dame added him to the injury report after he suffered a midweek injury before the USC game. Last Monday, Freeman said Rubio would be available for the postseason.
— Schrauth, redshirt junior, OUT: On Oct. 21, the Notre Dame football communications team ruled him out for the Boston College game with the injury. He played 66 offensive snaps against USC on Oct. 18 despite going down with an injury during the game. On Nov. 10, Freeman said whenever Schrauth is ready, he’ll play.

“If he can get back, he’ll play,” Freeman said. “But right now, he’s just trying to just keep improving and get to that point where he can help us. But he’s not there yet. I don’t know when he’ll be there. But he’s working tirelessly at really getting back to helping his football team.”
— Sevillano, redshirt freshman, OUT: The Notre Dame football communications team added him to the availability report Nov. 10. He last played a season-high 8 snaps against Navy on Nov. 8.
