The Notre Dame football communications team listed two starters out and another questionable for the No. 9 Irish’s game Saturday against Syracuse.

Left guard Billy Schrauth (left knee) and defensive tackle Gabriel Rubio (left elbow) are both out for the third straight game, including a fourth for Rubio. Wide receiver Jaden Greathouse (right thigh) remains questionable. He started early in the season for Notre Dame.

Greathouse could remain out for the remainder of the regular season. At least, that is what the program is evaluating. On Monday, Irish coach Marcus Freeman said they have discussed redshirting Greathouse, who has already played four games this season.

“Is it right for us to make him play these last two games and cost him a year if we can get away with saving him a whole year by not playing these two games?” Freeman said. “Right now, that’s our mindset. If we don’t have to play him this week, let’s try not to.”

Also on Monday, Freeman said Rubio would be available to play in the postseason. Freeman did not expand on whether Rubio would be Nov. 29 against Stanford.

“If we are able to be in postseason play, we expect Gabe Rubio to be back for that,” he said.

In addition to those players, five more were mentioned on Monday’s availability report.

Kicker Noah Burnette (right hip), offensive linemen Charles Jagusah (left arm) and Peter Jones (left ankle), defensive linemen Sean Sevillano Jr. (left ankle) and tight end Cooper Flanagan (left Achilles) are all out.

Notre Dame football injury report vs. Syracuse (Week 13)

Here is a detailed look at this week’s Notre Dame football injury report vs. Syracuse.

Burnette, redshirt senior, OUT: The Irish’s placekicker to start the season has only appeared in five games due to his lingering injury. He last kicked four PATS on Oct. 18 vs. USC.

— Flanagan, junior, OUT: After missing the first six games of the season, he made his season debut against USC on Oct. 18 and played four offensive snaps. But that is the only action he’s seen this season. Flanagan suffered his Achilles injury against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2.

— Greathouse, junior, QUESTIONABLE: No details have been given on when the injury occurred. However, he has missed every game since playing 24 snaps against Arkansas on Sept. 27. On Monday, Freeman said Greathouse “will be ready” against Syracuse, but they will try to “hold off on playing him in hopes of being able to redshirt him.” Freeman also said Greathouse will be ready to go if the Irish play beyond Stanford.

— Jagusah, redshirt sophomore, OUT: On July 5, Jagusah fractured his left humerus during a UTV accident in Wyoming. On Oct. 13, Freeman said Jagusah had to have a second surgery, and the timeline for his return is uncertain.

— Jones, redshirt freshman, OUT: On Aug. 26, the Notre Dame football communications team announced he had a left ankle injury. He has been out since then.

— Rubio, redshirt senior, OUT: On Oct. 16, Notre Dame added him to the injury report after he suffered a midweek injury before the USC game. On Monday, Freeman said Rubio would be available for the postseason.

— Schrauth, redshirt junior, OUT: On Oct. 21, the Notre Dame football communications team ruled him out for the Boston College game with the injury. He played 66 offensive snaps against USC on Oct. 18 despite going down with an injury during the game. Last Monday, Freeman said whenever Schrauth is ready, he’ll play.

“If he can get back, he’ll play,” Freeman said. “But right now, he’s just trying to just keep improving and get to that point where he can help us. But he’s not there yet. I don’t know when he’ll be there. But he’s working tirelessly at really getting back to helping his football team.”

— Sevillano, redshirt freshman, OUT: The Notre Dame football communications team added him to the availability report last Monday. He played a season-high 8 snaps last Saturday against Navy.
