Notre Dame got a big boost to its aspirations of making the College Football Playoff by increasing its win total to five games after knocking off USC 34-24 on Saturday night.

Jeremiyah Love‘s Heisman aspirations improved in the outing as well. Notre Dame’s star junior running back went off for a career-high 228 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, while adding 5 receptions for 37 yards in the passing game.

Love is up to 124 carries for 758 yards and 12 total touchdowns through seven games of the 2025 season, and he’s back in the Heisman conversation.

On Monday of every week during the college football season, On3 publishes its Heisman poll, with voting from national writer and analysts Andy Staples, Ari Wasserman, Chris Low, Brett McMurphy, Pete Nakos, J.D. PicKell, and Charles Power.

Love made the list at No. 10. Ahead of him are the following players: Alabama QB Ty Simpson, Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza, Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia, Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed, Ohio State QB Julian Sayin, Oregon QB Dante Moore, Georgia Tech QB Haynes King, Georgia QB Gunner Stockton and Miami DE Reuben Bain, respectively.

USC was Notre Dame’s lone marquee opponent left on the 2025 campaign. Improving his Heisman stock won’t be Love’s focus, but he’ll need to post massive numbers the rest of the season, and Notre Dame will obviously need to run the table for him to earn an invite to New York.

Love’s usage this season is up, which will help. In seven games, he’s averaging 17.7 carries per game compared to 10.9 last year.

“Me, personally, I could really care less. USC is just another opponent for me. That’s just a rivalry game. But Chad being there, I really don’t care. Just go out there and do what I gotta do to help my team achieve team glory.”
