Marcus Freeman reiterates Notre Dame “doubled down” on how it needed to fix its defense.

“We all believe it wasn’t a call. It was the fundamentals and execution of what we were asking our guys to do…The things we are doing aren’t wrong. It’s just the execution of them.”

“As soon as he gets healthy — which could be this week, it depends on today and tomorrow — let’s let him kick. And let Erik kick. And then we’ll make a decision on who is doing what or who is doing all. But we need to let Noah get healthy before we make that decision.”

Marcus Freeman mentioned that Stanford is 4-1 at home and has been playing really well in their stadium.

“The last three times we’ve played Stanford, we were tied or down at the end of the first quarter.”

Freeman talked about Stanford’s improvement and how the Cardinal are a “great challenge.”

“They have skill on the outside who are good players…On defense, they’re tough, gritty and tackle well.”

Charles Jagusah, Tae Johnson, Peter Jones, Gabriel Rubio, Billy Schrauth and Sean Sevillano are out for the Stanford game.

Noah Burnette and Cooper Flanagan are questionable.

Marcus Freeman says Notre Dame linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa is “built the right way” to overcome his season-ending knee injury. Freeman says KVA has “a bright future.”

“He was playing at such a high level. You feel awful for him because he puts a lot into it.”
