Notre Dame fans are plenty familiar with Julius Jones Sr., who starred at Notre Dame in the early 2000s, rushing for 3,018 yards and accounting for 27 touchdowns. He was a second-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2004 draft and played several years in the league.

And over the past several months, Notre Dame fans have learned about class of 2027 four-star recruit Julius Jones Jr., the No. 66 overall player and No. 14 wide receiver in the country per the Rivals Industry Ranking.

Now, Irish fans need to learn about another member of the Jones family: Andre Jones, a class of 2028 cornerback from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas. Jones already holds offers from Florida State, Penn State, Texas A&M, Oregon State, and others. He is ranked the No. 285 overall player and No. 27 cornerback in the 2028 Rivals Industry Ranking.

The Jones family visited Notre Dame last Saturday for the Texas A&M game.

“It was a really good visit,” Andre Jones told Blue & Gold. “I’ve been on a few visits so far, and that one definitely stood out. I loved the environment there. I was there all day, but I wasn’t tired of it at all. It was a lot of fun.”

Another highlight of the trip for Jones was meeting Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman. He also loved chatting with defensive analyst Jevaughn Codlin.

“I talked to Coach Codlin the most,” Jones said. “He’s a really cool guy. I saw him at one of our spring practices. We’re building a relationship. He’s definitely a cool guy.”

The Notre Dame coaching staff doesn’t offer many high school sophomores prior to their Pot of Gold Day that falls on St. Patrick’s Day every year. Jones’ older brother didn’t receive his offer until March of this year.

The Irish haven’t offered Jones yet, but if that comes next Pot of Gold Day, he would be fired up.

“It would definitely be big,” he said. “Being there with my dad and seeing everyone coming up to him, they showed him so much love. That was his first time back at Notre Dame in a while. It’s definitely a place I’d like to be.”

He noted that Notre Dame reminded him of his high school, St. Thomas Aquinas.

“There’s a lot of tradition,” he said.
