A Notre Dame football legacy recruit who already has a Fighting Irish scholarship offer proved why he is one of the top recruits in the 2027 class.

On Saturday, On3 national scout Cody Bellaire named Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas four-star wide receiver Julius Jones Jr. MVP at the Under Armour Future 50. That one-day camp at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., featured dozens of other elite high school juniors.

Jones, the son of former Notre Dame running back Julius Jones, shined above all of them.

Julius Jones put together an absolute clinic between the white lines on Saturday and was borderline unguardable,” Bellaire said. “He’s fluid and has excellent hip looseness that he shows off at the top of his routes. He does such a great job of setting up defenders and keeping them on their heels before snapping them off and creating separation.

“Jones is an easy hands catcher as well that does a good job of plucking the football away from his frame instead of letting it get to his chest. He had some serious wow plays during the competitive period, including five total touchdowns during 7-on-7. His toe-tapping grab in the back of the endzone was the catch of the day and capped off a fantastic overall performance.”

In On3’s rankings, Jones is the No. 76 overall player, No. 16 wide receiver nationally and No. 6 player in Florida in the 2027 class. He added his offer from the Irish on March 17 during the program’s St. Patrick’s Day-themed Pot of Gold Day recruiting event.

In addition to Notre Dame, he has offers from Miami, Oregon, LSU, Ohio State, Florida, Penn State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Florida State and Oklahoma.

Notre Dame Quote of the Weekend

“I’m not taking an official visit there due to my respect for Notre Dame. I’m only taking an OV to Notre Dame. … I could check it out during the season or something, but to me, Notre Dame is family. I’m 100 percent locked in with Notre Dame. But you have to see other options to make sure, and you never know what can happen. But Notre Dame is my home.”

— Boca Raton (Fla.) Saint Andrew’s School three-star wide receiver and Irish commit Dylan Faison to Blue & Gold recruiting insider Mike Singer on the status of his Notre Dame pledge after receiving a scholarship offer from Miami (FL) earlier in June.
