One of Notre Dame football’s key recruiting targets in the 2027 class is set to come off the board in late July.

On Monday, Rivals national recruiting reporter Hayes Fawcett reported four-star quarterback Teddy Jarrard will announce his commitment on Thursday. The Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb junior will choose between five finalists: Notre Dame, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State. Jarrard announced those programs as his top five schools on Thursday.

The 6-foot-3, 196-pounder is one of the nation’s most coveted passers, holding scholarship offers from over 20 other Power Four schools. In the Rivals 2027 class player rankings, he’s the No. 52 overall player, No. 2 quarterback nationally and No. 5 player in Georgia.

Jarrad was one of two recipients to receive an offer from Notre Dame on June 21, the first day they offered 2027 class quarterbacks. The other is Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian Academy signal-caller Peyton Houston, who is trending in the Rivals Prediction Machine (RPM) to Southern Cal.

Meanwhile, the Irish have emerged as one of the favorites for Jarrard. They’ve held the Peach State product’s attention since he unofficially visited campus for the first time on June 5. And it’s only increased since he added the opportunity to play for the Irish less than three weeks later.

“It’s great,” Jarrard told Blue & Gold recruiting insider Mike Singer on June 22, reacting to his Notre Dame offer. “(Quarterbacks) Coach Gino (Guidugli) and I have been talking for a while now, and I knew it was going to come eventually. He’s a great coach, and what they’re doing up there is awesome. I’m excited and stoked to continue to build a relationship with them.”

Less than one month later, Jarrard was one of the biggest movers in the updated Rivals rankings. He climbed 55 spots from the No. 107 overall player in the class to No. 52. Jarrard is now also the No. 2 quarterback, improving from his previous No. 7 positional ranking.

Jaarrad’s climb in the rankings comes after he won quarterback MVP at the Rivals Five-Star Camp in Indianapolis last month. His outing caught the attention of Rivals’ director of scouting and rankings, Charles Power.

Teddy Jarrard had the best performance of any quarterback at the Rivals Five-Star Challenge,” Power said. “It was clear that he was the best quarterback on the day. He was the most accurate passer and made the quickest decisions. The ball was out in a timely fashion, and he was very impressive in the 7-on-7 setting. He almost had a flawless day, aside from one later interception.

“He won the accuracy challenge and was outstanding in 1-on-1s. Everything looked easy for him. It was impressive considering there were quarterbacks from the 2026 class, 2027 cycle and two top 2028 passers were there, and he was the consensus top quarterback there.

“He had a very impressive performance. I really like how he throws the football. He is super consistent, has a good arm and makes quick decisions. He read defender leverage really well and knew when to get the ball out of his hands — at the ideal time when his receivers had separation. Again, he was very impressive.”

As a sophomore, Jarrad guided North Cobb Christian to an 11-2 record and the state semifinals. He completed 209-291 passes for 2,647 yards and 31 touchdowns, only throwing five interceptions.

Notre Dame has one non-specialist commit in the 2027 class in Mobile (Ala.) Williamson three-star linebacker Ellis McGaskin. Rivals’ No. 281 overall player and No. 18 linebacker in the class pledged to the Irish on June 30. In addition to McGaskin, the Irish also hold a pledge from Asheville (N.C.) Christian Academy long snapper Sean Kraft.
