Newsstand: What is the spread for the Notre Dame vs. Stanford football game?

This week — the final one of the college football regular season — features 67 FBS games. None has a bigger point spread than Notre Dame’s.

According to BetMGM, the No. 9 Irish (9-2) are a 32.5-point road favorite Saturday night against Stanford (4-7). That margin is three points larger than the next closest line: No. 24 Tulane is favored by 29.5 at home against Charlotte.

Oddsmakers expect Notre Dame to win by more than four touchdowns after it routed Syracuse by seven scores last Saturday. Five days before that game, BetMGM posted the Irish as a 35.5-point favorite. It was the biggest spread between two Power Four teams this week and the second-largest overall, behind Georgia’s 45.5-point line over Charlotte.

Notre Dame has found a groove after failing to cover in five of its first eight games. The Irish have covered the last three, improving their record against the spread under Marcus Freeman to 34-18-2. Two of those covers came in the last two matchups with Stanford. The Irish failed to cover in 2022, losing outright 16-14 as a 16.5-point favorite.

Saturday’s Notre Dame-Stanford game is one of three to kick off after 10:30 p.m. ET. ESPN will broadcast it.
