Newsstand: What is the spread for the No. 20 USC vs. No. 13 Notre Dame football game?

Oddsmakers are predicting Notre Dame football to win what could be the last-ever meeting between the Fighting Irish and USC Trojans at Notre Dame Stadium. According to BetMGM, Notre Dame is a 7.5-point favorite over Southern Cal on Saturday. The over/under points total is 62.5.
Beyond next season, when Notre Dame faces USC on the road at the LA Coliseum, the two schools do not have an agreement to continue the series. So, coach Marcus Freeman should have his team extra motivated to beat Lincoln Riley’s squad. The Irish have been favored to win the last two matchups, covering both.
This season, Notre Dame is 4-2 against the spread, failing to cover as favorites by losing outright to No. 2 Miami and No. 4 Texas A&M. Before the Boise State game, the Irish have gone over the points total in every matchup. Last week, Notre Dame finished 17 points below the line in a 36-7 win against NC State (59.5).
Meanwhile, USC is 3-4 ATS this season, failing to cover in three of its last four matchups. By beating Michigan 31-13 last Saturday, the Trojans covered a 3-point spread. That game finished under the 58.5 points total, marking just the second time that’s happened to the Trojans this season.

Notre Dame Quote of the Weekend
“Their tight end was better than I expected. I thought he played exceptional for them, big, tall kid, and got behind us, which I didn’t expect him to.”
— NC State coach Dave Doeren following last Saturday’s game on Notre Dame senior tight end Eli Raridon.
