Notre Dame football opens with fifth-best 2023 national championship odds per BetOnline
The 2022 college football season has not been completed, but betting odds for the 2023 national champion have already been released from BetOnline.Ag. Notre Dame has the fifth-best odds to win it all according to the popular sports gambling website.
Notre Dame received original odds of +1400. The only teams with better odds are Georgia (+300), Alabama (+375), Ohio State (+600) and Michigan (+1200). Three of those four competed in this year’s College Football Playoff, including Georgia, who is going for back-to-back titles tonight vs. TCU. Alabama, with its three national titles in the playoff era, was the one team from that list that did not qualify as a semifinalist this season.

Notre Dame went 9-4 with a win over No. 19 South Carolina in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl in 2022. The Irish went into the year as a consensus top-five team in the Associated Press Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll but fell out of the rankings with losses to No. 2 Ohio State in Week 1 and unranked Marshall in Week 2. They clawed themselves back into the rankings with an 8-2 finish to the regular season and could come close to a top-15 ranking to end the year after the bowl game triumph.

Notre Dame opens the 2023 season with three very winnable games. The Irish play Navy in Dublin, Ireland, on Aug. 26 then return home to face Tennessee State at Notre Dame Stadium on Sept. 2. It’ll be the first time the program has ever squared off against an FCS opponent. The first test against a nationally reputable foe comes in South Bend on Sept. 23 vs. Ohio State. The Buckeyes beat the Irish, 21-10, in Columbus on Sept. 3, 2022. They lost to Georgia by one point in this season’s semifinal.
The other 2023 dates that are set in stone for the Irish are Oct. 14 vs. USC, Oct. 28 vs. Wake Forest, Nov. 4 at Clemson and Nov. 25 at Stanford. Games against Duke, Louisville, NC State and Pittsburgh have yet to receive designated dates.
