Newsstand: Rams head coach Sean McVay raves about former Notre Dame RB Kyren Williams

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay met with the media this week and was asked about his rookie running back Kyren Williams. He spoke highly of the former Notre Dame star (2019-21) and even gave a nod to Irish offensive coordinator Tommy Rees.
“He’s not afraid. He has great contact balance and a low center of gravity to get up through people,” McVay said of Kyren Williams. “He has good technique. One thing I really like about his game — you could see the things that Tommy Rees and those guys at Notre Dame were asking of him was very translatable to the NFL. … It makes it an easier eval, and that’s one of the things we saw with him. We’ll find out when it gets live, but he’s shown he’s capable.”
Williams, who the Rams selected in the fifth round with the No. 164 overall pick, is all but a guarantee to make the Rams team. McVay is known to be cautious with having his main players take part in preseason games, and Williams didn’t play because he had already impressed the Los Angeles’ staff enough to secure a spot on the 53-man roster.

Quote of the day
“I am pretty, right now, emotionless about going back to Ohio State. More it’s about the emotions you have of, ‘We get to go play a great team.’ You get to go play in a great, hostile environment. That’s to me where the emotions come. Like any competitor, you get those butterflies. You get that excitement about going into a place like that and going to compete against a great program like Ohio State.”
