Notre Dame football score predictions: Irish vs. Boston College national picks

Here’s what the national experts think will happen when No. 12 Notre Dame (5-2) takes on Boston College (1-7) at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The Irish are a 27.5-point favorite, according to BetMGM. It should come as no surprise that each prediction Blue & Gold found likes the Irish in a rout, and one bet is proving particularly popular.
Bleacher Report: Notre Dame 45, Boston College 17
“In six games opposite power-conference teams, Boston College has yielded 6.4 yards per snap and 37.8 points per game. This shouldn’t be close.” — David Kenyon

NBC Sports: Boston College team total under 13.5 points
“Boston College is having major issues on all fronts, and especially at quarterback where opening day starter, Dylan Lonergan, has been replaced by Grayson James, who was also tasked with taking over for departed QB Tommy Castellanos last year.
“BC’s lead RB Turbo Richard is banged up, while Notre Dame’s defense has leveled out after getting lit up by Miami/Texas A&M. They have held @Arkansas, Boise State and NC State (all far superior teams to BC) under 14 points, while BC failed to score two touchdowns against both Pitt and Clemson. I think BC is held Under 13.5 points against a motivated and ascending Notre Dame defense that is looking to stake their claim to a CFP Playoff spot.” — Eric Froton

Covers: Boston College team total under 13.5 points
“USC managed to put forth an about-average passing performance against the Irish, but the other three [most recent opponents] all set their offenses back with each dropback. NC State fared the worst at -0.402 EPA per dropback.
“Enter Boston College, throwing the ball more often than any of these at 5.0% more often than expected, but doing so abysmally, ranking No. 125 in the country in EPA per dropback.
“Notre Dame’s aggressive secondary should feast on the Eagles. Add in how poorly Boston College finishes quality drives — ranking No. 118 in the country at 2.68 points per quality drive — and the Eagles very well might not score a touchdown at all.” — Douglas Farmer

“The Notre Dame offense has a clear mismatch in this contest. This feels like the perfect opportunity for quarterback CJ Carr to get back on track after a shaky outing against the USC Trojans two weekends ago. The redshirt freshman signal caller has mostly played tremendously football, and it would be nice if he can show that one performance was nothing more than a blip on the radar. It wouldn’t be shocking if offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock focused on getting Carr in rhythm early in the game.
Even if Carr isn’t great, the Boston College run defense has an extremely tough task against Fighting Irish superstars Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price. You have to feel good about Love continuing his case for the Heisman Trophy in this contest. No. 4 should be featured early and often.” — Ryan Roberts
