Newsstand: Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton taken No. 14 overall by Baltimore Ravens

The wait was longer than he wanted it to be, but Notre Dame defensive back Kyle Hamilton has found his new home.
With the No. 14 overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens took Hamilton on Thursday night. The 6-4, 224-pound safety heads to a Ravens team known for stout defense and elite defensive backs, and Baltimore defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald will have plenty to work with in Hamilton.
He was the seventh defensive player, third defensive back and first safety taken off the board in Las Vegas.
Additionally, the Georgia native is the 70th first-round pick in Notre Dame history and the highest-drafted Irish defensive player since defensive tackle Bryant Young in 1994 (No. 7 overall). Hamilton is also the first Notre Dame defensive back taken in the first round of the draft since Harrison Smith was selected No. 29 overall in 2012.

Tweets of the day
Hamilton was in Las Vegas for the draft on Thursday Night with his family. After he was chosen, his mom, Jackie, joked he is glad he never has to play against Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
In addition to Hamilton, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman coached another defensive back taken in the top 15 of the draft: Cincinnati’s Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner. The Bearcats star was taken No. 4 overall by the New York Jets.
Irish safeties coach Chris O’Leary has been on staff since 2018, so he has seen Hamilton through his recruitment, time at Notre Dame and now as he heads to Baltimore. O’Leary was in Las Vegas as well.
Quote of the day
“I guess I hate the Steelers now.”
— Hamilton said, jokingly, in a press conference following being selected by the Ravens
