Answer: A. The Blue Devils (7-3) routed the Irish (5-5) 37-13 in the season finale for both teams on Dec. 2, 1961. Duke, which won the fifth of its seven ACC championships in football that season, outgained Notre Dame 440 to 306 in total yards, picked up 28 first downs to Notre Dame’s 15 and intercepted three passes while not turning it over.

The other time the two schools played in Durham was 2019, when Notre Dame cruised to a 38-7 victory. The Irish lead the all-time series 5-2. The other defeat came during the Irish’s disastrous 2016 season, when the Devils went into Notre Dame Stadium and stunned the Irish 38-35.
