Notre Dame women's basketball finalizes 2025-26 schedule with game vs. Michigan

The 2025-26 Notre Dame women’s basketball schedule had one missing piece prior to Thursday. Now, it’s finalized.

The Fighting Irish will play the Michigan Wolverines in the annual Shamrock Classic in Detroit on Nov. 15.

The matchup between the Irish and Wolverines will take place at Wayne State Fieldhouse at 4 p.m. ET on NBC. It’s the same day the Notre Dame football team is set to play at Pittsburgh. A kickoff time for that matchup has yet to be announced.

Last year, the Irish women’s basketball team’s nationally televised game on NBC served as a lead-in to the football team’s game against Army at Yankee Stadium. It’d make sense for it to be another appetizer type of game as opposed to the two programs playing concurrently. But again, television information and a start time for the football game is still to be determined.

Notre Dame and Michigan most recently squared off in women’s basketball in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The Irish defended home court at Purcell Pavilion and punched a ticket to the Sweet 16 with a resounding 76-55 victory. Returning team leader Hannah Hidalgo had 21 points for the Irish in their win.

Notre Dame and Michigan will take part in a leadership luncheon in Detroit on the Friday prior to the game as a part of Shamrock Classic festivities. The Shamrock Classic is sponsored by Gatorade, Invesco QQQ, Nissan, Under Armour and Verizon.

This is the second-ever neutral site meeting for the Irish and Wolverines. Notre Dame’s win this past March pushed its all-time record against the rival to 14-8. Tickets for the game will go on sale to the public on Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. ET.
