There weren’t many tweaks to the Notre Dame football depth chart on Monday, heading into a Saturday’s first-ever matchup with visiting Boise State (3-1).
While that is mostly a positive development for Irish head coach Marcus Freeman, it also means preseason All-America cornerback Leonard Moore is still incubating in the questionable category for the third straight week. The 6-2, 195-pound sophomore missed the past two games with a right ankle injury suffered late in a 41-40 loss to Texas A&M back on Sept. 13.
Kickoff for ND’s version of a green-out at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday is 3:30 p.m. EDT (NBC/Peacock), The Irish are 2-2, coming off a 56-13 road of Arkansas.
Two other players landed on the questionable list, Monday — starting nose guard Donovan Hinish(left shoulder) and special teams regular and backup defensive end Preston Zinter. Zinter’s questionable status is actually an upgrade. He missed the Arkansas game while in concussion protocol.
The Irish depth charts aren’t always linear, meaning if Moore can’t go again, boundary corner backup Mark Zackery IV will likely start at field cornerback, with junior field corner starter Christian Gray shifting over to the boundary side. It would be the third career start for Zackery, a freshman.

AtBlue & Gold, we’re committed to a depth chart projection on Mondays, and anytime there’s a change. The difference is we’ll go beyond the two-deeps for the Irish.
A few things to note. Players with an -x after their names have been ruled out for the season. Players with -y have been ruled out for at least the upcoming game. Players with -q were listed as questionable in Thursday’s official availability report from Notre Dame. OR denotes players tied for a spot on the depth chart.
There were no new additions to the out-for-the-season list and no significant additions when it comes to players with more short-term recovery timelines.
With Notre Dame shifting to eligibility year as its primary identifier this season for the first time ever, we will follow that lead, but clarify between a redshirt freshman, for instance, and a true freshman.
Heights and weights were refreshed at the start of preseason camp on July 31.
