The official Notre Dame football depth chart, issued on Monday, indicated that grad transfer Noah Burnette would continue as the No. 1 Irish place-kicking option this week.
The official Notre Dame head football coach, Marcus Freeman, wasn’t as definitive about that during his weekly Monday press conference when asked about his team’s kicking plans for No. 10 ND’s Saturday night matchup with Navy (7-1) at Notre Dame Stadium (7:30 EST | NBC).
FreshmanErik Schmidt, the team’s No. 1 kickoff man since mid-September, is in the mix as well after three different Irish kickers missed place kicks in last Saturday’s 25-10 road win over four-TD underdog Boston College.
Freeman said this week’s practices would determine who got at least the first shot on Saturday for the Irish (6-2).
At least none of them — Burnette, Schmidt or walk-on Marcello Diomede, landed on the injured list this week.

Out with longer-term injuries are left guard Billy Schrauth (left knee), defensive tackle Gabe Rubio (left elbow), along with offensive linemen Peter Jones and Charles Jagusah, neither of those two who have played this season to date.

A few things to note. Players with an -x after their names have been ruled out for the season. Players with -y have been ruled out for at least the upcoming game. Players with -q were listed as questionable in Thursday’s official availability report from Notre Dame. OR denotes players tied for a spot on the depth chart.
With Notre Dame shifting to eligibility year as its primary identifier this season for the first time ever, we will follow that lead, but clarify between a redshirt freshman, for instance, and a true freshman.
