Noting Notre Dame: The Irish are rolling. The defense is much better than the unit that didn’t play well enough in losses to Miami and Texas A&M to open the season. No loss is a good loss, but if they could be ranked Notre Dame’s one-point defeat vs. the Aggies is looking more and more like the least harmful one for any team in the country as far as College Football Playoff résumés go. So long as the Irish keep playing like they have, they’ll be tough to leave out of the playoff field with a 10-2 record.
Noting Boston College: The Eagles didn’t publicly announce who their starting quarterback would be in head coach Bill O’Brien’s Tuesday press conference but they could put out prime Cam Newton and it probably wouldn’t matter. The defense is getting gashed, the the team just isn’t capable of putting forth winning efforts against power conference opponents. Or anyone other than Fordham. It’s been that bad for O’Brien and Co. this year.
