Noting Notre Dame: The Irish have made their case to the College Football Playoff Selection Committee, and it’s an effective one. Most recently, blowing out a ranked Pitt team on the road further solidified them as a playoff team. Notre Dame has won eight-straight games, led by a defense that gets better every game and an offense that features arguably the best player in the country: junior running back Jeremiyah Love. Love is third in the country in yards from scrimmage and tied for third in touchdowns, scoring on 94, 48 and 56-yard runs over his last three games.

Noting Syracuse: The Orange got off to a promising start this season, winning three of its first four games — including a road upset over Clemson. But late in that victory, former Notre Dame quarterback Steve Angeli tore his Achilles tendon. And as soon as that happened, anything Syracuse hoped to accomplish in 2025 became impossible. Backup quarterback Rickie Collins has been benched twice now, for true freshman walk-on Joseph Filardi. As a result of poor QB play, the Orange has lost six in a row and is playing out the string.
