Where Notre Dame football ranks in Week 10 Associated Press Poll after beating Navy

It was another week of Notre Dame reminding pollsters that the Fighting Irish are for real and deserve an extra look when filling out ballots. Notre Dame absolutely pummeled then-No. 24 Navy, 51-14, at MetLife Stadium on Saturday. Voters took notice.
The Irish, ranked No. 11 the Coaches Poll and No. 12 Associated Press Poll going into the Navy game, moved up to No. 9 in the former and No. 8 in the latter. Head coach Marcus Freeman‘s team enjoys its second bye week this week before a pair of home games against Florida State and Virginia, a neutral-site game against Army at Yankee Stadium on Nov. 23 and the regular season finale at USC on Nov. 30.
The game against the Black Knights (7-0), No. 21 in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25, could figure to be one of the toughest for Notre Dame all season, but that’s what some were saying about having to go against previously unbeaten Navy. All the Irish did was trounce the Midshipmen by 37 points in a game that was effectively over by halftime.
The Irish can’t count on Army turning the ball over six times, though, and the Black Knights have a much better defense than that of Navy on paper. Army will certainly get Notre Dame’s best from a preparation and game-planning perspective.
All of a sudden, too, Notre Dame has one of the best wins of any team this season in the way the triumph over Texas A&M in Week 1 is holding up. The Aggies, hot on the Irish’s heels in the polls at No. 11 in the Coaches Poll and No. 10 in the AP Top 25, have rattled off seven wins in a row since then, including a 38-23 victory over then-No. 8 LSU last night.
Army and A&M are the only 2024 Notre Dame opponents ranked in the polls.
