Where Notre Dame football ranks in Week 12 Associated Press Poll after beating Florida State

With its seventh consecutive victory, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish received another bump in the Sunday polls. The Fighting Irish (8-1) are up to No. 7 in the Coaches Poll and No. 8 in the Associated Press Poll. They moved up a spot in the former and two spots in the latter.

Notre Dame beat Florida State 52-3 in the only regular season primetime game in South Bend of the year on Saturday. With the win, head coach Marcus Freeman‘s team has beaten its last seven opponents by an average margin of 33.9 points per game.

There are now three 2024 Notre Dame opponents appearing in both polls; No. 15/15 Texas A&M, No. 16/17 Army and No. 22/24 Louisville. The Fighting Irish already beat the Aggies (7-2) and Cardinals (6-3). They take on the Black Knights (9-0) at Yankee Stadium in two weeks. Before then, they host Virginia (5-4) in the final regular season home game at Notre Dame Stadium. The Irish finish the year at USC (4-5) at the Los Angeles Coliseum two days after Thanksgiving.

The second College Football Playoff rankings of the season are released on Tuesday. The Irish came in at No. 10 in last week’s CFP poll prior to their win over FSU. If this week’s AP Top 25 served as the CFP rankings, Notre Dame would be the No. 9 seed playing at No. 8 seed Tennessee in the first round.
