Where Notre Dame football ranks in Week 9 Associated Press Poll after beating Georgia Tech

As chaos continues to occur in college football, Notre Dame has steadied the ship and is currently riding a five-game winning streak entering Week 9 after easily handling Georgia Tech, 31-13, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta yesterday. All of a sudden, there aren’t nearly as many undefeated teams in the Irish’s way.
It’s going to take even more winning for the Irish’s efforts to be reflected in weekly rankings, however.
Notre Dame (6-1) remained No. 11 in the Coaches Poll and No. 12 in the Associated Press Poll after its dominant showing against Georgia Tech.
This is the first time the Irish have been 6-1 in the three-year Marcus Freeman era, and the good news for the Irish is they have a chance this week to do something nobody has yet to accomplish all season, and pollsters tend to love those sorts of things. The feat not yet pulled off by any of the six teams that have tried, of course, is beating Navy. The Midshipmen, No. 24 in the Coaches Poll and No. 24 in the AP Top 25, improved to 6-0 on Saturday with a 51-17 victory over Charlotte.
Navy and Army are the toughest tasks remaining on the Notre Dame schedule, by far. The Black Knights, who the Irish face on Nov. 23 at Yankee Stadium, are also undefeated at 7-0. They’re ranked No. 23 in both polls.
As for the Irish’s other remaining foes, Florida State dropped to 1-6 with a Friday night loss to Duke. Virginia has lost two in a row and is sitting at 4-3. USC has lost three in a row and four of its last five.
Notre Dame’s Week 1 win at Texas A&M is holding up nicely, meanwhile. The Aggies have not been defeated and sit at the top of the SEC standings with a 4-0 conference record. They’re No. 14 in both polls.
