COLUMBUS — As summer comes to a close, the 2027 class has come into focus for the Ohio State coaching staff. The Buckeyes worked out some of the top soon-to-be juniors at prospect camps in June.

Ohio State also has two of the top prospects in the 2027 class already committed. Rivals released its updated Rivals 300 for the 2027 recruiting class which included both future Buckeyes.

Lettermen Row takes a few moments to look where the two members of Ohio State’s 2027 class slotted in the updated Rivals 300.

Jamier Brown

Four-star Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne wide receiver Jamier Brown is the highest-ranked Ohio State commit in the updated 2027 Rivals 300. Brown is now the No. 9 overall prospect. He also ranks as the No. 1 wide receiver and No. 1 prospect in Ohio in the 2027 class.

Other programs are working to flip the 5-foot-11, 170-pound Brown from the Buckeyes but he has repeatedly reaffirmed his commitment. Brown camped in Columbus last month to work with wide receivers coach Brian Hartline. Here’s what Lettermen Row wrote about Brown’s camp performance.

Post-camp observations: “There’s not a lot left to say about five-star Ohio State wide receiver commit Jamier Brown. His Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne team struggled throughout the day [Wednesday, June 11] but Brown was dominant once again.

Brown’s 10.36 second speed in the 100-meter dash makes it hard for high school defensive backs to run with him. Brown has also dramatically improved as an all-around receiver from this time a year ago. He runs precise routes, catches the ball with his hands and can accelerate away from defenders after catching the ball.

It was very easy to see why Brown has five stars next to his name after watching him at two camps this week. He also got the five-star treatment with at least one Ohio State staffer on the sidelines for all of his games.”

Prior to camping at Ohio State on June 9, Brown won the OHSAA Division I State Championship in the 100-meter dash on June 6. Brown won the championship with a time of 10.41 seconds. However, he set a personal best of 10.36 second in preliminaries.

Brady Edmunds

The only other Ohio State commitment in the updated 2027 Rivals 300 is four-star Huntington Beach (Calif.) quarterback Brady Edmunds. He is now the No. 124 overall prospect. The future Buckeye signal-caller now ranks as the No. 10 quarterback in 2027 class, according to Rivals.

Edmunds took a multi-day visit to Ohio State from April 10-12 the competed in the Elite 11 Regional in Ohio on Sunday, April 13. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Edmunds also returned to Columbus from June 5-9. He camped with the Buckeyes three times across that four-day visit.

While in Columbus Edmunds and his family visited Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where he spoke with staff members and made donations. Edmunds used his NIL money to purchase items from the hospital’s wish list and includes toys, books and clothes.
