Buckeyes stall out in second-half, fall on the road at Nebraska

COLUMBUS — Ohio State had the opportunity to start a new winning streak — and earn another Big Ten road win in Jake Diebler’s first season at the helm.
Nebraska was able to hold off the Buckeyes, however, at home inside Pinnacle Bank Arena. The Buckeyes led by as many as eight early in the second half but the Cornhuskers ultimately came out on top.
Final score from Lincoln: Nebraska 79, Ohio State 71.
Ohio State fell to 14-10 overall and 6-7 in Big Ten play.
The Buckeyes got a game-high 30-point performance from senior guard Micah Parrish. He also had four rebounds and play some impressive 1-on-1 defense throughout the game. Freshman guard John Mobley Jr. added 21 for the Buckeyes, but neither performance proved to be enough to lead Ohio State to a win.
Ohio State’s other three starters finished with just 14 points. Additionally, the Buckeyes only got six points combined from five players off the bench.
The Buckeyes are back in action against Washington on Wednesday inside the Schottenstien Center. Jake Diebler’s squad preparing for a three-game homestand starting with Wednesday’s tilt against the Huskies.

Ohio State then hosts Michigan, which current ranks as No. 24 in the AP Top-25, on Feb. 16 and Northwestern on Feb. 20. After that the Buckeyes hit the road for their lone west coast swing of the season. They’ll play at UCLA on Feb. 23 then at USC on Feb. 26 to wrap up the month of February.
The Buckeyes will close out the season with a home game against Nebraska on March 4 and a road trip to Indiana on March 8.
Win a handful of those games and the Buckeyes’ NCAA Tournament resume will be solidified. Drop too many and the Buckeyes will be on the bubble as Diebler pushes for an NCAA tournament berth in his first season as a head coach.
