<h2><strong>Dwayne Haskins shines again</strong></h2>
<p>The outcome was never in doubt, but Ohio State looked exactly the way it needed to against Tulane on Saturday, romping its way to a 42-6 halftime lead before turning the backups loose. The Buckeyes were powered by another strong showing from Dwayne Haskins, who completed 21 of 24 passes for 304 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions in one half of play.</p>
<p>What was most revealing about his performance is that while Ohio State quarterbacks can sometimes benefit from weapons like Parris Campbell turning passes near the line of scrimmage into long touchdowns, Haskins has also shown — and did so again vs. Tulane — that he can put a football wherever he wants. His <a href="https://twitter.com/MrOH1O/status/1043975986088415232">37-yard touchdown pass to Campbell</a>, for example, was about as good as it gets.</p>
<p>Haskins looks like a bonafide star at this point, and if he continues that success against Penn State the Heisman consideration will only ramp up. Even more importantly, though, it would be the biggest proof to date that Ohio State is a College Football Playoff threat with serious national championship hopes.</p>

<h2><strong>Urban Meyer returns</strong></h2>
<p>Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer was back on the sidelines for the first time in 2018, and his debut didn’t disappoint. Here’s what he had to say about what Saturday was like for him:</p>
<p>“This community and this school and this university mean the world to you, the state, this is our home state,” Meyer said. “This is something that, you know, in 2012, when Gene [Smith] made a call and asked me if I would be interested in coming back to Ohio State, and we were going through a tough time then as well, and we did. My family is completely engrained in this community, they love this place, I love this university. Walking into that Skull Session and see Buckeye Nation’s support, myself and our team that was somewhat overwhelming and I appreciate that. Very appreciative of it.”</p>

<h2><strong>Buckeyes open as road favorite</strong></h2>
<p>Ohio State opened as a <a href="https://lettermenrow.com/ohio-state-football/ohio-state-buckeyes-penn-state-nittany-lions-odds-spread/">4.5-point favorite</a> against Penn State, though the line was quickly bet down to 3.5.</p>

<h2><strong>5-star DE visits Ohio State</strong></h2>
<p>Damascus (Md.) High School 5-star defensive end Bryan Bresee is the No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2020, and Ohio State is putting in the work to land his commitment. Bresee took an unofficial visit to Columbus on Saturday and spent the game with Ohio State commit Paris Johnson, a 5-star offensive tackle from Cincinnati St. Xavier.</p>
<p>â€œI spent a lot of time with Bryan and [Michigan 2020 wide receiver] Devell Washington,â€ <a href="https://lettermenrow.com/ohio-state-football-recruiting/ohio-state-football-recruiting-bryan-bresee-paris-johnson-brenton-strange/">Johnson told Lettermen Row</a>. â€œThere wasnâ€™t necessarily a message for them, but I just mention putting the best with the best together in Columbus.â€</p>
<h2><strong>Can’t Guard Mike</strong></h2>
<p>Has there ever been a more accurate trash-talking Twitter handle than Michael Thomas’ choice of <a href="https://twitter.com/Cantguardmike">@Cantguardmike</a>? The former Buckeye wide receiver has truly proved to be unguardable this season, having registered an NFL-record 38 receptions through his first three games. Even more amazingly, he’s only been targeted 40 times, meaning Drew Brees has connected with Thomas on 95 percent of his attempts to the third-year wide receiver.</p>
