Four-star EDGE London Merritt decommits from Ohio State

COLUMBUS — Ohio State has one of the highest-ranked recruiting classes in the 2025 cycle, but it has had a setback with National Signing Day a week away.
Four-star Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy EDGE London Merritt has decommitted from the Buckeyes. Merritt is the No. 260 overall prospect and the No. 30 EDGE according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He checks in as the No. 54 EDGE per On3.
“After much careful consideration, I’ve decided to respectfully recommit from the Ohio State University. This was not an easy decision, as I have immense respect for Coach Johnson, Coach Day, and the coaching staff,” Merritt shared on X.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude, support and belief you have shown in me throughout the recruiting process. The Ohio State University is an outstanding institution, and I will always apperceive the opportunity to have been a part of such prestigious program.”

Merritt committed to Ohio State on March 29. He chose the Buckeyes over offers from Alabama, Clemson, North Carolina and several other Power Four programs. He never stopped listening to other programs, however.
Merritt took and official visit to North Carolina in June and one to Colorado earlier this season. He was also in Boulder on an unofficial visit for the Buffaloes big win over Utah.
The Buckeyes currently has one EDGE committed to its top-ranked 2025 class. Four-star Troy (Ala.) Enterprise EDGE Zion Grady is the lone defensive end in the class for defensive line coach Larry Johnson.
