NEWS: Ohio State baseball lands highest-ranked commitment of the Justin Haire era

COLUMBUS – The Ohio State baseball program remains hot on the recruiting trail under head coach Justin Haire.
Ohio State received a commitment from 2027 Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller outfielder Noah Goettke on Thursday night. Goettke is the highest-ranked commitment of the Justin Haire era in Columbus and one of the highest program history.
Goettke ranks as the No. 193 overall prospect in the 2027 class and No. 1 prospect in Ohio, according to Prep Baseball Report. Lettermen Row spoke with Prep Baseball Ohio Assistant Scouting Director Pete Whitmer for a brief scouting report of Goettke.
“The tools speak for themselves,” Whitmer said. “Top 200 player in the country for obvious reasons. A ferocious competitor that can impact a baseball game in multiple ways. Some serious PWR potential offensively. Has done it at a high level for several years now on the elite travel/ showcase circuit.
“Chance to push or compete for PT earlier than most freshman at the P5 level. A great get for the Buckeyes in what’s shaping up to be a very strong recruiting class.”

Goettke is the fourth commitment for Ohio State in 2027. He joins Trenton (Ohio) Edgewood left-handed pitcher JJ Vogel, Plain City (Ohio) Jonathan Alder right-handed pitcher Corey Taylor and Vandalia (Ohio) Butler infielder Koby Dues in the Buckeyes class. Vogel also committed on Thursday. All four players are top-20 players in Ohio, according to Prep Baseball Report.
