Five offensive Buckeyes earn first-team All-Big Ten honors

COLUMBUS — Ohio State was heavily represented on the defensive all-conference honor list released Tuesday. The offensive list was released Wednesday, and it featured more love for the Buckeyes.
Five Buckeyes stars were named first-team All-Big Ten on Wednesday. Three Ohio State offensive players made it from both the coaches and media: wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., running back TreVeyon Henderson and left guard Donovan Jackson.
Tight end Cade Stover and right tackle Josh Fryar were both named first-team All-Big Ten by the media.
But the first-team selections weren’t the only way Ohio State was represented. Right guard Matthew Jones was named second-team All-Big Ten. Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and quarterback Kyle McCord were both named third-team all-conference.
Ohio State finished third in the Big Ten in scoring offense, first in offensive yards per game and second in passing yards per game and offensive efficiency. Kyle McCord finished second in the league in passing yards (3,170), while Henderson was fourth in rushing yards (854) despite missing multiple games with an injury.
Of course, Harrison was the easiest choice for both the coaches and media. He led the conference with 1,211 receiving yards and 14 receiving touchdowns. He also ran for a touchdown.
Those numbers allowed Harrison to earn the Graham-George Offensive Player of the Year honors and the Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year award for his production.
Ohio State did see a drop-off in its offense from the outputs folks are used to seeing from the Buckeyes. Their yardage per game, efficiency and scoring offense are all down compared to the last few years, but this unit was still one of the best in the Big Ten — and in college football. Of course, they didn’t beat Michigan on Saturday in the Big House.

So while these individual honors are nice, Ohio State will not make it to the Big Ten title game; the Buckeyes haven’t reached that game since 2020.
