Good morning, Ohio State fans, and welcome to the Scarlet Sunrise! Football will always be our focus, but every day we’ll cover news, notes and analysis from across Buckeyes sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Ohio State football, recruiting, basketball and more.

Bryson Shaw closing out star lacrosse career

Ohio State football didn’t go long without another lacrosse star on its roster. One year after Sam Hubbard’s departure for the NFL, the Buckeyes signed 3-star safety Bryson Shaw in the Class of 2019. As it turns out, Shaw is a big-time performer on the lacrosse field as well.

On Tuesday, Shaw and his Bullis team will play in the championship game of the Geico Nationals, a tournament pitting four of the best high school lacrosse teams against each other. According to the Washington Post, Shaw has 36 goals and 28 assists this season and was an Under Armour All-American in a sport he won’t even play in college.

If Shaw is as successful on the gridiron, you can bet on hearing about his lacrosse background a time or two.

Ohio State baseball headed to Vandy

Ohio State baseball found out its NCAA Tournament assignment on Monday, and it’s a doozy. The Buckeyes are the No. 4 seed in the Nashville Regional hosted by Vanderbilt, the top seed in the regional and the No. 2 overall national seed in the 64-team tournament. The Buckeyes are joined in the pod by No. 2 Indiana State and No. 3 McNeese State.

Ohio State ended the regular season with an RPI of 135 before winning the Big Ten Tournament, leading to the extraordinarily tough draw. The Buckeyes open play against the No. 1 seed Commodores on Friday at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be televised by ESPN2.

5 questions for Ohio State receivers

The recent recruiting at wide receiver and H-back is about to be tested for Ohio State.

Sure, some proven weapons are still in Columbus. But the Buckeyes lost three key seniors to the NFL. That’s a lot to replace, even for a program like Ohio State. The Buckeyes have recruited well at wide receiver, so they don’t expect a drop-off. It’s Wide Receiver Week at Lettermen Row, and we have five burning questions for how things might shake out for the Buckeyes offensive playmakers.
