COLUMBUS — The movement on the Ohio State basketball roster ahead of Jake Diebler’s second season continues.

According to a post on his Instagram account, Buckeyes 2025 signee Dorian Jones will not enroll at Ohio State for the upcoming 2025-26 basketball season.

“I wanna start off an I want to thank my Ohio State basketball family and coach Diebler for their support,” Jones wrote on Instagram. “As I reflect on my development, this next year is an opportunity for me to grow more prior to college. I won’t be enrolling at Ohio State this year but I look forward to continuing our relationship.”

The 6-foot-3, 160-pound shooting guard from Richmond Heights high school in Cleveland signed with Ohio State during the signing period, but now it appears he won’t be joining the hoops program. Jones was one of two signees for the 2025 recruiting class along with power forward A’mare Bynum.

Ohio State is in the middle of overhauling its roster for Diebler’s second season after missing the NCAA Tournament in his first campaign.

The Buckeyes added former Baylor power forward Joshua Ojianwuna, former Santa Clara center Christoph Tilly, former Wright State power forward Brandon Noel and former Indiana guard Gabe Cupps to the roster after the season ended this spring.

Tilly and Noel are proven scorers in the front court from their time at the mid-major level, while Cupps is a former Ohio Mr. Basketball honoree who started games for the Hoosiers before entering the transfer portal. And Ojianwuna has proven he can play at a high level for a high-major program. This transfer class should be better than last year’s transfer class, which included former five-star prospects but turned out to not pan out the way Ohio State had hoped for.

This recruiting class was supposed to be a good step for Diebler, too. But now that class appears to be down to one member for this upcoming season. Shooting guard Dorian Jones reportedly will not enroll at Ohio State for the upcoming season.
