Buckeyes guard Evan Mahaffey enters transfer portal

COLUMBUS — Ohio State guard Evan Mahaffey has entered the NCAA transfer portal for the final year of his college eligibility.
Mahaffey, a former Penn State guard, transferred to Ohio State for two seasons and helped the Buckeyes in both of his years. He made 35 starts last season but did not contribute as much during this past season for the Buckeyes.
He averaged 3.6 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game and 0.8 assists per game in 2024-25 as a junior for Ohio State.
He’s the second Buckeyes player to enter the transfer portal this offseason, joining center Austin Parks.
Mahaffey played in 34 games as a true freshman at Penn State, averaging 2.8 points and 1.7 rebounds per game during that freshman season before transferring to the Buckeyes program under Chris Holtmann. He stayed on the roster when Jake Diebler was promoted to head coach after Holtmann was fired from the Ohio State program.

Austin Parks also enters transfer portal
Ohio State reserve center Austin Parks hasn’t had the impact he was hoping to have during his career with the Buckeyes.
The St. Mary’s native will now test the transfer portal waters and look elsewhere to find an impact for the rest of his college hoops career.
Parks announced on social media last week that he’ll enter the NCAA Transfer Portal after three seasons in Columbus. Parks averaged 1.3 points per game, 0.9 rebounds per game and 0.3 assists per game this season. He appeared in 24 career games across two seasons with the Buckeyes.
