Four Buckeyes make CBS Sports' All-America team

COLUMBUS — Ohio State stars continue to show up on All-American teams across college football media.

This time, it’s CBS Sports that has its All-American teams out, and four Buckeyes made the cut for the first-team. None are on the second-team list.

It starts, of course, with defensive back Caleb Downs, who was a unanimous All-American selection last year and is a CBS Sports All-American safety again this fall. He’s joined on the first team by wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, widely known as the best player in college football, defensive tackle Kayden McDonald and linebacker Arvell Reese. All four were also named first-team All-American selections by On3 on Wednesday, as well.

This all comes just one day after five Buckeyes earned first-team All-American honors from On3. Those players were Jeremiah Smith, Kayden McDonald, Arvell Reese, Caleb Downs and Caden Curry.

Of course, neither the CBS Sports All-American team or the On3 All-American team count toward consensus or unanimous status. Those designations come from five All-American selections: the Walter Camp Football Association, the Associated Press, the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), The Sporting News and the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). Those All-American teams will be released across the next week.

Last week, Downs was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Back of the Year. Reese was named the Big Ten Linebacker of the Year, McDonald earned the Defensive Lineman of the Year honors while Smith was named the Big Ten Wide Receiver of the Year.
