Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson selected by Patriots in second round of 2025 NFL Draft

COLUMBUS — TreVeyon Henderson spent four years as a star tailback for Ohio State, capping his career off with a national championship win. He’ll be one of the top rookie running backs in the NFL next year.
That’s why he’s being drafted as such. Henderson was selected No. 38 overall by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Friday night. He’s one of two Ohio State tailbacks who will have their names called early in the NFL Draft alongside Quinshon Judkins.
Henderson had two 1,000-yard rushing seasons during his four years at Ohio State, those coming during his freshman and senior seasons. Across four seasons, he had 3,761 rushing yards and 42 rushing touchdowns to go along with 77 receptions for 853 receiving yards and six touchdown grabs.
The former five-star prospect from Hopewell, Virginia, lived up to his recruiting ranking during his time with the Buckeyes.

But maybe where he is most under-appreciated is his pass-blocking, where he really thrives.
“He’s one of the most under-appreciated guys in college football, and that dude’s just an explosive guy when he gets the ball in his hands,” Ohio State quarterback Will Howard said last season. “But I think one of the most special things that he does is without ball in his hands, his pass pro. I mean, that guy’s unbelievable in pass pro. As a quarterback, it’s cool because he takes so much pride in it, and he loves it, like “man, they’re not touching my quarterback, man.” I love that. A running back that’s unselfish enough to be that caring about not letting dudes hit his quarterback, that’s special. He and Q [Quinshon Judkins] do an unbelievable job in pass protection. But what they do with the ball in their hand speaks for itself. But you know, that’s one piece of his game on the field, I would say that is overlooked.”
Now the Patriots are getting the full package with tailback TreVeyon Henderson. He was selected at No. 38 overall by New England on Friday night.
